The story
behind the dust.

Why 40 Series owners from across Western Australia are pointing their rigs north — through the Wheatbelt and Mid-West, up the Gascoyne coast to Exmouth Gulf, in support of the families who feed this country.

The West Coast Long Drive is a Western Australian fundraising initiative built in the spirit of its Queensland sister event. Classic 40 Series LandCruisers will roll out from Perth from 3–11 October 2026, on an eight-day convoy through the Wheatbelt, Mid-West and Gascoyne to Exmouth Gulf — communities that have stood through decades of drought, dry seasons and isolation.

The 40 Series is a fitting symbol for the people we're driving for. They were built tough, they've stood the test of time, and they don't ask for a hand-out. But quietly, behind farm gates across Western Australia, families are doing it harder than they let on. That's where Farm Angels come in.

Every dollar raised goes directly to Farm Angels. We pay our own way, we cover our own fuel, we drive our own rigs. The fundraising is for the farmers — full stop.

Why a 40 Series?

The Toyota 40 Series LandCruiser, produced from 1960 to 1984, became the working backbone of regional Australia. There's a reason you can still find them on stations from Esperance to the Pilbara — built simply, built honestly, built to last. The convoy is a tribute to that durability and to the communities who relied on these rigs to keep going.

Why Western Australia?

WA accounts for roughly half of Australia's landmass and a significant share of its agricultural output, but its rural and remote communities are often the last to be heard from. From the Wheatbelt's prolonged dry spells to the cumulative pressure on Mid-West and Gascoyne pastoral country, the need is real and ongoing. This WA specific event gives Western Australians the chance to give back and show your appreciation to WA farmers and National support to Farm Angels.

Inspired by a long drive
that's already given
over $700,000.

The Long Drive for Drought was founded in 2019 by Brent Reeman in Brisbane, after being inspired to do something practical for the drought-impacted communities he was already working with across Queensland. The inaugural QLD drive in 2020 saw 40 Series enthusiasts travel over 2,500 kilometres through 18 outback towns, raising $52,000 for Drought Angels (now Farm Angels).

Since then the QLD event has grown to over 50 vehicles, raised more than $700,000 in total, and become a fixture on the rural Queensland calendar. The West Coast Long Drive brings the same spirit and purpose to WA — following the same model, supporting the same charity ecosystem, and carrying the same commitment that 100% goes to the farmers, while being run independently by WA participants.

Who's behind the wheel.

The West Coast Long Drive is run by a small group of WA-based 40 Series enthusiasts, with the support of a growing network of participants, sponsors, and community volunteers. Like its QLD counterpart, every organiser pays their own way and participates in the drive.

Organiser bios and team photos will be added here ahead of the inaugural drive.
